A review from one our guests about 180° McIver, Coonoor.

McIver!  Charm, style and comfort.  Food, service and feelings of genuine helpfulness.  It is a destination in itself regardless the charms and appeals of Coonoor and it's environs.  The staff at McIver on all levels of management and service are stunningly superior to what is usually offered and expected.  The food and service in the French/Indian restaurant exceeds expectations with their creative and pleasing menu.
The dining room and patios are spacious and well designed.  The staff is knowledgeable and very professional.

We are already planning to return next year.  Even my laundry, just 2 shirts and 2 pairs of sox were returned to me beautifully attended to with obvious care and pride.

A feeling of kindness pervades the atmosphere here.  The people seem naturally happy, service with many smiles from the watchman to the managers, devoid of any hint of ego often felt by guests in many western hotels.  Most services and shops in the village of Coonoor are within an easy walk of the Villa with choices of several bank atm's, snack and sundry shops, the Jacaranda Spa, where I had a haircut, a superior quality massage and reflexology treatments.  There is a full service spa and salon, again with a professional and caring staff. 

The costs are very reasonable especially considering the level of service.  The building dates back 115 years and is Victorian gothic in design.

The 6 guestrooms, all different in layout and color schemes, professionally decorated and furnished with many antiques from the days of the British occupation.  All rooms have working fireplaces, very comfortable beds and furniture with modern and oversized bathrooms, some as large as the usual guestroom in another hotel.

Of course I could go on but I'm sure you get the message.  I am a former Hyatt Hotel employee, used to giving and receiving superior service and will say that Mciver does not disappoint.
